I have one of these that I bought somewhere else, for more money. Even still, this has been the best machine, by far, for dealing with my sleep apnea. It has made a huge impact in my life, and it would be very hard to get me to switch. The reason is that it auto-adjusts the pressure, and has data logging.

Let me say this as plainly as I can: The auto-adjust/self-titration is *essential* for anyone who suffers from sleep apnea.

First, your pressure will change no matter what. When you get sick your throat and sinuses tends to swell up and the pressure needs to increase a bit. So, if you ever get sick with a non-adjusting machine it makes it quite a bit worse because you stop getting decent-quality sleep when just you need it most. It turns a mild flu or cold into a several-week ordeal. Believe me, I’ve been through it several times and it’s horrible. It’s well worth the extra money for this machine just to avoid going through that.

Second, your pressure settings will change if you gain or loose weight. Five or ten pounds can make a huge difference in your pressure settings. Again, the self-adjusting/auto-titrating machine takes care of that automatically. This time around I’ve lost 30 pounds, and my settings have dropped. Instead of going back to the doctor or dealing with a clueless DME and dealing with countless hassles and paperwork, it gets take care of as I sleep. Again, well worth the extra money.

Third, the data logging helps you see how effective different things when you try them out. This is especially vital if you are single or sleep alone. For example, lets say you get a mask that leaks. With the logging you can tell straight away how terrible it is. Maybe you try tightening up the straps instead of getting a new mask, and the data logging can tell you how well it works. There is nothing super-complex about dealing with sleep apnea, but everything has to be set up just so, and it’s hard to say what that set-up should be for any particular person. The data logging will help tremendously and save you time and sleepless nights.

I’m not trying to say you should spend recklessly or spend more than you need to, just that you not worry about spending enough to correctly fix the problem. It’s money well spent to deal with medical problems *correctly*, and this machine (and a excellent mask) has done exactly that for me. Also, I have no financial interest or affiliation with any of these companies — I’m just a customer. BTW, even if you don’t get this machine, please consider getting one with at least auto-titration and a humidifier. Data logging is very vital too, but auto-titration is probably the most vital.
